Service Notes

Thomas' drifter was requisitioned into the Royal Naval Reserve to undertake coastal patrols. "Whilst on one such patrol on his 54th birthday, Tom was taken ill, and the ship was forced to put to shore at Grimsby; as soon as they reached hospital Tom was diagnosed as having double pneumonia." He died two days later and was brought home to Filey to be buried.
