Reginald Vernon CULLEY 1882 - 1916

Page history last edited by Ian Elsom 11 years, 9 months ago

 Filey War Memorial, Murray Street

Reginald was the son of Frederick Andrew CULLEY, a tailor, and Annie LANGDON. The parents married in Croyden in 1881 but Reginald's birth was registered in Bath District June Quarter 1882 5c 636. For reasons not yet known the family moved from Somerset to Yorkshire later that decade and Reginald's brother Thomas Joseph was born in 1888 in the Scarborough Registration District (Free BMD December Quarter 9d 369). I cannot find any Culleys in the Filey Censuses of 1891 and 1901 so they may initially have settled in the wider Scarborough area. Reginald and Tom had at least five siblings - seven children of Frederick and Annie are remembered on a headstone in St Oswald's churchyard.
